Clear Recorder Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 26, 2026
This privacy policy applies to Clear Recorder for Android, published by TechProIQ. For privacy questions, email contact@techproiq.com with “Clear Recorder privacy” in the subject.

Recording storage and gallery copies

Clear Recorder accesses your microphone when you choose to record and grant microphone permission. In versions that include video recording, it also accesses your camera after you grant permission and open video mode. It keeps original audio and video recordings, recording names and related file information in private app storage on your Android device. In version 0.6.0 and later, Save videos to gallery is on by default. After a video is completed, the app attempts to save a separate copy in Movies/ClearRecorder so gallery and photo apps can find it. You can turn this off in video Settings. Existing videos can be copied with Save to gallery. If a gallery copy fails, the original remains in the app. These are used to record, list, rename, play, export, share and delete your recordings. The current app does not upload recordings or this information to TechProIQ.

Accounts, advertising and tracking

The current app has no user account, advertising SDK, analytics SDK or cloud-sync service. It does not request Android internet access and does not send app usage, audio or video data to our servers. Google Play and Android may separately process purchase, installation, diagnostic or other information under their own settings and privacy policies. This policy does not describe those independent platform practices.

Permissions and recording controls

  • Microphone: captures audio for a recording you start. You can stop recording in the app and revoke microphone permission in Android settings.
  • Camera (video-enabled versions): provides the camera preview and video capture. Video recording stops and is finalized when you leave the video screen or lock your phone. You can revoke camera permission in Android settings.
  • Foreground service and notifications: support an ongoing audio recording and its controls while you use other apps. Notification permission may be requested on supported Android versions.
  • Storage on Android 9 or earlier: write-storage permission is requested for gallery saving. If you decline, the private recording is kept and you can use Export. Android 10 and later use MediaStore without broad storage permission.
  • Wake lock: helps an active audio recording session continue when the screen is off.

Recording is initiated by your action. Pausing stops adding audio to the recording, but Android’s microphone indicator may remain visible until you stop the session.

Teleprompter scripts

When you use the optional teleprompter, text you enter or paste and your display settings are saved in private app storage on your phone. This text is shown so you can read while recording; it is not uploaded to TechProIQ or sent to a speech or AI service. In versions with Notes & scripts, use Delete and confirm to remove a saved note. Clear text changes the editor draft; Save note commits an edited note. Older versions remove the single script through Edit text, Clear text, then Use script. In video mode, scripts appear over the preview for reading and are not embedded in the recorded video. Clearing app data or uninstalling also removes saved scripts and settings. The teleprompter appears only inside Clear Recorder and does not request permission to draw over other apps.

Sharing and exporting

Automatic gallery copies follow your Save videos to gallery setting. Gallery copies are accessible to other apps with appropriate media access, and Google Photos or other gallery services may back them up according to your settings and their policies. Clear Recorder does not upload those copies itself. Sharing and document-picker exports occur when you choose those actions. Sharing gives the receiving app temporary access to the selected recording. Export creates a separate copy at the location you select through Android’s document picker. A receiving app or storage provider may upload, sync or otherwise process that copy according to its own privacy policy. TechProIQ does not control those copies or third-party services.

Retention and deletion

Saved recordings remain in the app’s private storage until you delete them or remove the app’s data. Interrupted recordings may leave unfinished files that you can choose to discard. Deleting a saved recording or note has no trash or undo; the editor’s Undo clear only restores a cleared draft. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes the app’s private recordings. Export important recordings first.

Deleting an original in Clear Recorder does not delete gallery, exported or shared copies. Gallery copies also remain after uninstalling Clear Recorder. Manage those copies through your gallery, receiving app or storage provider. The current app disables Android app backup and device-transfer backup for its private data.

Security

Recordings are stored in Android’s private app storage. Sharing is limited to the file you select. Clear Recorder does not provide a separate encrypted vault or guarantee that recordings can be recovered after deletion, device failure or an interrupted recording. Protect your device with appropriate access controls and keep independent copies of important recordings.
